TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on returning to Thailand after previously being questioned at immigration for staying longer than typical tourist durations. Several comments suggest that increased scrutiny may occur for repeat travelers with extended stays, and it is recommended to have organized travel documentation (e.g., return flights, accommodation) ready. Suggestions include applying for a tourist visa or a multiple entry visa beforehand to avoid complications during entry.

I see you are only staying 3 weeks, in that case then if you have a confirmed return flight you should be fine with a visa exemption whether it’s still 60 days or reduced to 30 days.

What was your travel history prior to being questioned in December?

How long are you planning to stay in June, note by then the 60 day exemption may have been reduced to 30 days, no official announcement in the Royal Gazette, so plan your trip accordingly. Ideally have a confirmed return flight home or an onward flight and show accommodation etc

If you have been stopped in December, it’s highly likely you will be stopped again, they will already know this when you complete the TDAC within 3 days of your arrival

If you are coming as a tourist and don’t have a lot of border run history then you should be ok. Otherwise apply on line for a 6 month multi entry visa if you are looking to stay longer than your average tourist GL

Not taken out of line, but questioned more pointedly than in the past. I agreed with the IO that next time I will get the multiple entry visa as I have done in the past.

Welcome to Thailand🇹🇭

Last year I was told by IO at Suvarnabhumi that get visa next time

That’s why I got a non O visa and subsequently I have an extension and multiple entry

It’s not too difficult to apply for E-Visa on website

It is becoming increasingly normal to be questioned if you make a number of longer trips in one year or over multiple years. Most tourists do not do this and so such behavior is anomalous (easy to detect for their software). Probably, if you have a perfect record of complying with your visa/stay conditions (especially no overstay), and you comply with all the other conditions of entry when you enter, you will be fine after questioning.

To remove the risk, as said, consider applying for a tourist visa before and/or assess the other visa options if you are likely to keep coming regularly.

Getting refused entry can be problematic later.

Yes, was suggested to get a retirement visa if I wanted to stay long. 🙂

Did they give you a warning and tell you that you needed a visa next time? Normally they give a warning like that if they don't want you returning visa exempt.

Regardless, I would still apply for a tourist visa before your next trip just to give a little extra security. As long as you are not from New Zealand, doing a tourist visa is simple to do online and not expensive.
