Just a heads up to the people using agents for funds to extend non-o,My neighbor who has been using a very popular agent in Pattaya for years was told yesterday while picking up his passport that they will most likely not be able to show funds next year.
Answer summary
A recent notice has raised concerns among expats utilizing agents for extending their Non-O visa in Thailand, as these agents may no longer be able to demonstrate the required funds next year. This has sparked a discussion about the risks associated with relying on agents, with several commenters warning against it and suggesting direct engagement with immigration to avoid potential deportation or bans. Some participants noted the importance of having proper financial documentation ready to comply with new requirements that are being enforced. The conversation highlights the precarious nature of using agents, especially for those who might lack their own funds.

I picked up the list of requirements for the extension there on June 1. And it says that after the "1-year visa is granted" (sic.), that after 3 months you must submit a copy of your passport and *bank book*, showing activities over that 3 month period. New requirement? (I wouldn't know, as this is my first time)

Mark Tabner if they could "just" do that then they would not be using an agent in the first place 😆

Bryan Kilvinski most people can do that, they keep the money in a tax free bank for a year and collect 44,000 baht that’s why they pay agent 15,000 yearly basically free extension

Bryan Kilvinski why not

Why would I want to give the banks and the government my money

I prefer to keep.my money in my banks. And pay the agents to do the work. Which if you ask almost every IMO They will tell you they are either happy for you to do, or just pay them directly

If the banks one in particular would give the required letter of deposits like immigration wants. And if immigration would just look through the statements provided by the bank to check you have deposited the correct amounts then some problems would be avoided.

that makes no sense. All banks will provide the letter for immigration and immigration always look through the statements

It’s like setting up a shop and advertising credit card fraud. I don’t see how visa agents aren’t all shut down. It’s implied they will forge documents for you as no visa anywhere in the world needs an agent to begin with… just an afternoon of paperwork.

I kind of agree with you about the implication of agents being able to work under the radar. But not everyone can easily do e-visas or other online submissions. Especially the older folks who aren’t tech savy.

Frances Pulone There is no eVisa or online extension application from inside Thailand, it is all in person at Immigration

I don't NEED an agent however I use an agent because I detest waiting in queues for hours to deal with immigration.

Am happy to pay them - is like owning a business and outsourcing specialist help...

Ian Ramsay Took me 30 minutes to submit my completed application for Non-O extension the other day, which was a little longer because I needed to get a print out of myself standing in front of my home and a Google maps printout of where my home is located. 5 minutes to pick it up the next day. Sigh.....Agents must love you 😍

Ian Ramsay If you're just using an agent to save on leg work and time that's fine. If they're proving the 'funds' that's different.

Ian Ramsay it’s like having your name associated with crime as well. When the raids come your file is right there alongside the others. I’m alright lol

Bobby Broward but the file and the fee would indicate what service was provided and the lower fee customers are just paying for document admin. ;)

Bobby Broward it’s people without the funds and they get away with it because that money you pay an agent well a lot of it goes to the imagination officers

There are a lot of crackdowns but they mostly seem to be reactive to bad press. It does seem the govt has the resources to police things when they want to such as the thousands of nominee companies. These crackdowns are siloed by department and Immi has just had its latest crackdown and rule change so maybe the 5 second bank deposit will continue.

But if there ever is a crackdown. Do you want to be that guy that gets deported and banned?

That’s why people should use an agent only as a last resort because it will bite you in the ass one day.
