What are the implications of choosing a Non-Immigrant B visa versus a Non-Immigrant O visa in Thailand?

Hello guys. I will probably be relocated to Thailand office by my company and I have two visa options i.e. non immigrant B as the company can send me the documents needed and non immigrant O as I am married with a Thai citizen. Would you please advise what the implications are for each option? (We plan our future in Thailand). Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Considering your situation, the Non-Immigrant O visa, based on your marriage to a Thai citizen, offers greater security since you wouldn't immediately lose your visa status if you lose your job, unlike the Non-Immigrant B visa. Additionally, the Non-O visa allows you to work legally based on your marriage, which could be beneficial as you plan your future in Thailand.

The advantage of the Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai would be that IF you lost your job you wouldn't immediately lose your extension like you would on a Non-B.

You can legally work on a Non-O based on marriage. I'd say go with that one.

I do know that IF you are applying for a Non-O based on marriage you don't need a work permit receipt.

I couldn't help with anything about the work permit, that's between you, your company and the Ministry of Labour.

Sorry.

Thanks Tod. Now, we have this situation that we would like that my company in Thailand applies for my WP while I am working abroad and you had mentioned earlier that they can do that by using the WP method 3. Could you maybe advise what the process is in that case i.e. do the company apply and then if all is fine, they send me the form from the Ministry of Labor and the other documents needed and I apply with that when applying for non O or they don't need to send me anything so I go there with my marriage certificate and they issue the visa but the WP is waiting for me in Thailand? (Sorry for the long one).

Tim Hardy a work permit is required for ANYONE to work in thailand. :) (except for people who hold that 4 year SMART visa ;) )

So Tod. As far as working on a Non immigrant-O Spouse visa. Is a work permit still required?
