For the information of members on Non-Imm "O" (Retirement) extensions of stay who maybe looking to relaote to Surin. Have just been informed by the Surin Immigration Office their requirement for seasoned funds is 3 months prior must have minimum balance 800K. But their advice is to add a couple of weeks to allow bank statement being obtained from the head office which is likely going to be in Bangkok. AND must retain that minimum balance for one month afterward, but NEVER fall below 400K.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Members seeking Non-Immigrant 'O' (Retirement) visa extensions in Surin should be aware that the local immigration office requires a minimum balance of 800,000 baht held in a bank account for three months prior to the application. Additionally, they recommend maintaining this balance for one month post-application while never dropping below 400,000 baht. However, there is a discrepancy with claims that the seasoning period has changed to two months before applying and three months post-receipt, which is relevant since the regulations have seen updates.

That is 100% totally false 🙁

The police order is clear, since they changed the seasoning in January 2019 it is no longer 60 days seasoning on banked money method for the first yearly extension and 3 months for every yearly extension after that.

NOW (as of Jan 2019) it is 2 months before you apply for your extension, the funds need to stay in the account for 3 months after you receipt it and then the balance can't go below 400K baht for the rest of the year.

Here's the english and the thai of the current police order in effect.

Whether you make the immigration follow their rules or not is totally on you. I am only relating what the real rules are.

So, if you deposit say, 1,000,000 B, can you draw up to 200,000 B during the initial 2 months 'seasoning?'

you need to have a minimum of 800K baht in the account in your name only for 2 months before you apply (they don't care how much over that it is, it just can't be under it).

the operative words are "not worth YOU pushing it uphill" <- that's totally a personal decision you are making. All I'm doing is posting what the real rules are

I called due to an emergency requiring my Thai wife needing to be placed into a hospital for final stage Altzheimers/Dementia which has left me a little short of income. But no! we telephoned and spoke Thai. She was very clear about seasoned for two months prior to extension application as well as only one month after approval. I will NOT be tempting fate, so will allow two weeks to get bank statement (assuming will need to come from Bangkok) and next time round could well be a different individual.
