Hi all, I am about to start applying for a DTV visa for my fiance and I. Most of our income is dividens will this be an issue? If so I could lower the dividend and up the payroll salary for 3-6 months before applying to strengthen our opportunity. Lastly is it best to apply myself via the Thai government website or use an agency? Which agency’s have people used? TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around applying for a DTV visa for expats in Thailand, addressing concerns about financial requirements, particularly dividend income and bank savings. Key points include the importance of having THB 500,000 in a personal bank account and the debate over whether to apply through an agency or directly via the Thai government website. Participants shared their experiences and opinions, stressing that while dividend income could help strengthen the application, the primary requirement is maintaining the necessary funds in a liquid account. Recommendations for agencies like Siam Legal were mentioned, but some advised against using them.

I feel like it is bad advice saying that all you need is the money im the bank. You do need to prove you have either remote work or be enrolled in some kind of course. You can’t just show money im the bank. Not much wonder people often have to submit a second or third application before they are successful.

i don’t think anyone that? We were specifying the financial requirements. Not the visa category requirements. As there are many DTV categories

Any Legitimate Bank Account in the World it's not Necessary to be in Thai baht as it's almost impossible to open Thai Bank account....

No income required. Bank balance required. Do a little research….Cant be done inside Thailand. No agent required

You questions indicate you haven’t even googled the absolute basics. I hate to sound harsh, but you could have searched the basics faster than the time you spent typing the post.

I have been researching for a couple of days including google and ChatGPT it was ChatGPT that said it’s highly likely I will get refused based on dividends income that’s why I joined this group to get clarity as I don’t trust all the information on search engines. Iv also contacted the UK based Thai embassy for the correct information. I just want to make sure I am doing everything correctly

all you did was talk about money and you haven't even broached a suitable entry scheme for yourself. So first I'd choose your entry scheme, and then I'd approach how I'm going to support myself financially if asked.

thats fair. But i would be curious what kind of input you used to Chat GPT.

This was a one sentence question to chat GPT just now. There’s no way chat gpt told you that you need to show income.

The fund seasoning can vary from embassy to embassy.

Again, no income, Bank account with enough no money is the ONLY financial requirement. And most embassies only accept the funds on Bank Accounts in your name. But there are variations embassy to embassy

The other requirements depends on what category DTV you are applying. So that i can’t answer. Personally I am on a DTV based in medical treatment, thus my requirements centered around medical documentation.

Hi Chelsey, just to share that ISA account is required to be liquid (fixed deposit would not be accepted). Like some others have shared, the minimum required amount of THB500,000 is still the most crucial. That said, your dividend income would significantly strengthen your application and you should include that in your supporting as well as your cover letter.

We recommend Siam Legal and Issa Compass. We work closely with both of these visa agents for our cooking school which is eligible under DTV Soft Power category. Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions ! We've assisted many students get their DTV visa with our cooking programs so we're quite familiar with the process.
