TLDR : Answer Summary
To stay in Thailand for 5 months, you have a few options. The OA visa is recommended, particularly for eligible applicants, but also consider the Special Tourist Visa (STV), which could be an option. Another viable route is to obtain a standard tourist visa that grants 60 days, which can be extended for an additional 30 days. After that, a border run can be executed to re-enter Thailand for potentially another 30 days, making it a total of 5 months.

There is no 90 day holiday visa. A tourist visa gives 60 days, extendable once for 30 days. So will cover 3 months. A border bounce is an option to either get another tourist visa or if eligible visa exempt, the latter giving you 30+30. So would cover 5 months.
Depends on certain stuff like age and others information.

Thank you, that’s pretty much what I thought, just have to wade through the process now.

The worse part of the OA for me was the medical certificate. As I had no primary care physician I went to a couple of minor medicals who would not touch the certificate. I then went to Passport Health and they did it in about 2 weeks (maybe 3) for around 700 USD. Yes, that's true. Plenty of people said their primary care physician just signed it for no cost and I think that's valid but I just didn't have one. That was the most onerous part. Everything else was pretty easy and the process went fast with the Embassy once I had all my ducks in order. Oh, also, no one at BoA would sign anything indicating how much money I had in the bank but just printing my online statement worked. It did take a few weeks to get the no criminal record but it was inexpensive and the request could be made online. I did this in 2019. This year I took a "more money than sense" approach and just arrived on visa exempt and paid a reputable agent to get me a Non O visa and used Wise to move the money into a Thai bank account.
