TLDR : Answer Summary
Visa runs can allow you to extend your stay in Thailand, but the duration you can stay depends on the type of visa you use for re-entry and the associated regulations. If you plan to spend five months each year, consider options like the NON-O visa, which is suited for retirees or those over 50, as it may offer longer stay periods with fewer complications regarding visa runs.
