Will not ( guys) let you step foot inside if you not wearing trousers. I saw many turned away. Along trip down there for nothing for these guys! 👍

TLDR : Answer Summary
Visitors to Phuket immigration are required to wear trousers, as those in shorts may be turned away. Despite some individuals reporting they have previously attended in shorts without issue, the prevailing expectation is to dress respectfully by covering knees and shoulders. Additional comments suggest that while enforcement may vary, maintaining a respectful appearance is important in government offices.

I wore pants for my visa-exempt extension in Patong and saw a couple of guys in shorts and sandals getting served. I was a little surprised.

Always dress respectfully when attending Immigration and other government departments
Rules are rules, but i’m glad this isn’t enforced where i go. I keep my knees covered but having to go buy some pants for an extension in a country thats usually 90+ degrees just seems hilarious.
Maybe they should put some community elephant pants in a bin outside the doors

I've been visiting Phuket immigration for 26 years wearing nothing but shorts and a T-shirt. No problem so far.
so does that office include renewal of one year extensions based on retirement?

I went in the entrance and was surprised at how shabby some people were dressed.

This has been the rule in every south east Asian country I’ve ever been in? I don’t understand? Just because it’s not enforced consistently doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be respected? We are a guest. We should not act like we own the place.

Cover knees and shoulders. It’s a government office. Show respect.
