What should I know about the Tourist Visa application process in Penang, especially regarding guarantor, accommodation proof, and dress code?

Hello All!

I’m heading off to Penang tomorrow for my Tourist Visa Application & I just have a few questions regarding the terminology on the application.

1. The “Guarantor” - Does this refer to where you are staying in Thailand?

2. If retuning to Thailand by land, what information do you need to supply? Or do you need to fly back into Thailand?

3. is it a strict requirement to supply printed evidence of your bank account for 3 months?

4. Proof of accommodation for 60 days?

5. Do men have to wear long pants or are long shorts acceptable?

6. Can the visa be paid in Thai Bhat as well as RMK?

I would really appreciate any advice & experience from anyone who has been through applying for the TV in Penang.

Thankyou

🙌

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is preparing for their Tourist Visa application in Penang and has several questions about the application terminology and requirements. They seek clarification on the term "Guarantor," the procedure for returning to Thailand by land, whether printed bank account evidence for three months is mandatory, proof of accommodation for 60 days, acceptable dress codes, and payment methods for the visa application. Community comments provide mixed opinions on dress code requirements, emphasizing the importance of adhering to strict application requirements.

Short pants are fine, as long as you wear long trousers. Write where you will spend your first night. Write that you have no guarantor. That they ask for a fax number tells you how closely they’ll be scrutinising your answer. 😉

so just to clarify a guarantor is more if you were staying with friends or family not in a resort ect?

Also if entering the country by land from Malaysia do you just need the transport company on your application?

Yes, these questions should have ‘if applicable’ added.

The requirements are strict. You either meet them or you don't. It's a checklist and that's how they use it.

Shorts are not allowed ! I have no idea about your other questions but I do know shorts are not allowed. I had to go and rent trousers and a face mask from the stand opposite. Oh yeah make sure you have a face mask as well
