Could you please tell me if my understanding on the 90 day non immigrant visa is correct.

I will be applying from the UK via the evisa website and this is the part I'm confused about, when it's granted do I have 90 days to enter the kingdom then immigration will stamp my passport allowing me to stay for 90 days?

I shall then look to open a bank account and transfer 800,000baht from my UK account and allow to season for 2 calendar months before applying for a 1 year retirement visa.

Thank you in advance for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks clarification on the 90-day Non-Immigrant visa process when applying from the UK via the eVisa website. The confusion lies in the entry period and the immigration stamp granting a 90-day stay upon arrival in Thailand. Comments confirm that the visa is valid for 3 months from issuance, and upon entry, the user will receive a 90-day permit to stay. Additionally, there are discussions about opening a bank account in Thailand and transferring funds for a retirement visa.

When Thai Embassy approved and issue the non o visa, it will also mentioned there the date within which you have to use this visa. Your 90 days counting start from the day you enter thailand

Just 1 correction.

You don’t apply for a ‘1 year retirement visa’.

You actually used that visa for entry.

Immigration stamp you into the country with a 90 day permit to stay.

So you actually apply for a 1 year extension to that permit to stay.

But people do often call it a visa.

No planning. Passport with Non O 90 days visa, Thai mobile number with your name, passport and your Thai address.

I had heaps of documents (even Thai marriage certificate condo ownership contract from 2008, Thai Driving licence). No pictures, nothing.

Kasikorn expositures, 2 of them, rejected me (November 2025).

One said, your name in Certificate of Residence, shows you surname first then your given name. Go back to Immigration and tell them to issue it different order. Obviously, that bank manager ordered his staff that no foreigner can open bank account with them.

The second one, said, you live in Samut Prakan Province, (3km away) we are Bangkok Province, we are not allowed to open cross provinces accounts.

Go to Bangna Central.

The 3rd one accepted my passport only. Tossed aside my Certificate of Residence, my house Yellow book, my TM30, my Thai Pink ID, laughed at me "who told you you need this crap"? Why did you bring it here?

Then, where is your Thai wife?

What if I had no wife? "Just bring her in" as if I could conjure a wife. She (wife of 25 years) came in, I do not know why they needed her.

Account opened.

As many here, Mods before all, said it may be a walk around different bank branches.

All this might not help you much, just be prepared what might happen.

Correct, there's two completely different things:

The validity of the visa and the amount of time you get when you enter the country on that visa

When they approve the single entry non-o visa it will be valid for 3 months from the date it's issued.

That means you have that long of a time to enter Thailand.

And when you do enter (even if it's the very last day that Visa is valid for) you'll get stamped in for 90 days.
