What are the current visa rules for entering Thailand, particularly regarding the Bangkok sandbox and related hotel bookings?
Sorry I must have missed something _ I booked my sandbox hotel in bkk three weeks ago now I'm told the sandbox is canceled and nobody nobody including the hotel told me about the qr forms etc that were required and now apparently you can t submit them and therefore enter the country????
Answer summary
The post discusses confusion surrounding the Bangkok sandbox program, which has been canceled. The poster expressed frustration due to lack of communication from their hotel regarding necessary QR forms for entry into Thailand. Several comments clarify that the sandbox was never officially established in Bangkok, primarily existing in Phuket and some islands. The discussion highlights ongoing changes in entry protocols, with references to the Test and Go program and quarantine options. Participants in the dialogue point out that many hotels falsely advertised a Bangkok sandbox, leading to further misunderstandings.

When filling out the thai pass does it ask for booking for a covid test 72hrs prior to flight from UK
Mark *******
OPJared Jernegan to clarify: a lot of hotels advertised on booking.com and agoda etc and other places that they offered a bangkok sandbox program. The screenshot below is the receipt from my booking. Each displayed all the relevant badges and certificates and multiple websites had links to lists of Bangkok sandbox hotels. There may not have been a bangkok sandbox but a very convincing bangkok sandbox program was sold to many people on very legitimate sites. I had no reason to doubt mine until just a couple of days ago.

This is Bangkok chief. No sand or beaches just straight to asq for 7 days of no sun.

So what do you need? A refund? What did the hotel say? Better start communication in WhatsApp or Email so there is a record. And if you do get into a legal wrangle for posting, please update us here. Thanks

There is NO sandbox in Bangkok.

Moral here: Thai Pass is a complete failure causing too much confusion and alienating would-be tourists from wanting to come here! Added to that, Knee-Jerking and flip-flopping only serves to destroy any remaining trust the public had. And this Micky Mouse govt. just doesn’t get it…..!

@Mitchell ******
as I did as well. Still, it was enough to deter much-needed tourism during the high-season.

Actually, I found the Thai pass to be fairly straight forward. You just need to have your insurance hotel, and PCR testing sorted before starting.

people keep missing the part that there was NEVER A SANDBOX IN BANGKOK.

OPI mean silly me for not seeking govt issued approval but even now you can Google "Bangkok Sandbox" and you'll get pages of what look like perfectly legitimate results and hotels offering the program. It's easy to get duped, it looked to me at the time that there was a Bangkok Sandbox.

Thai government giving him the pass yes.Either quarantine in BKK or sandbox in Phuket.

Jared **********
@Marc *******
not all countries could apply for the test and go, so if you couldn’t do the test and go you could do the sandboxHow about you try thinking?
Mitchell *******
@Jared *********
, Bangkok was never a part of the Sandbox program. The fact that these (3rd party) sites are calling it sandbox is misleading, because all you were doing is either test and go, or 7 day quarantine. Only Phuket, Phi Phi, and Samui area (and maybe Krabi??) ever had a Sandbox plan.So, you either booked 6 days under test and go program, in which case, the hotel arranged your testing. OR the hotel was under the impression you were a domestic traveller?
Marc ********
@Jared *********
Just try to think logically if it is even possible for you.There is test and go. You stay 1 night in the hotel until you get your negative test. Then you are free to go.
Why would anybody choose having to stay 7 days in the same hotel and not leave the area? You have to be fully vaxxed for same programs.
That's why Sandbox in Phuket. After negative result you are free to move 7 days in the area. Then you can go anywhere.
BKK test and go. After result you can move free
Jared **********
@Marc *******
you saying it’s not, but the Thai government giving him the pass and authority to do soWho do you believe 🙃

His hotel package - sandbox
He’s free to leave his hotel during the day but has to return every night and can’t travel elsewhere - sandbox

@Jared *********
It was not. PeriodJared **********
@Marc *******
IT WAS officially recognized from the government, and they were approving Bangkok sandbox thai passes back in December There’s nothing to understand, sandboxing in Bangkok was a thing
Marc ********
@Jared *********
Your sources are not officially from thai government. If they want they can call it sandman or toothfairy program.It is still not officially sandbox program issued and regognized by the thai government. Period.
You are really stubborn and don't want to understand
Jared **********
@Martin *******
you 100% changed what you said from, “there never was” to “go ahead and book it now”, those are different things especially after I said it was currently suspended, just as the test and go isSome people need to stop drinking, but maybe you should try it
Jared **********
@Marc *******
I provided sources saying this was in fact the case, there were 5-7 day sandbox packages for Bangkok that were being sold the same time as the test and go. I have a friend right now in a 5 day sandbox package in Bangkok who has been roaming the city but must return to his hotel at night. I gave several links from reputable sources and have personal experience, all you and your buddy can do is say no 🤷♂️

Marc ********
@Jared *********
Dude there was never a sandbox in BKK. Period.Only AQ and test and go.
Sandbox means you are allowed to roam free around but have to stay 7 days in the area.
No such thing in BKK regardless how many pages you come up with where they call it WRONG
Jared **********
@Martin *******
what you’re doing now is called changing the goal posts because what you said was wrong, so now you need to say something different to try and be right instead of just accepting that you are 100% wrong. There are people in Bangkok right now as part of the sandbox program you say never existed 🙃
Martin ********
@Jared *********
apply for bangkok sandbox, see you there. bye freak, dont write back.Jared **********
