TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around flight options from Chicago to Bangkok, particularly via Japanese airlines such as JAL and ANA. Several users share their experiences and recommendations for these airlines, highlighting good service, acceptable layover durations, and personal anecdotes of their travels. Users also mention alternatives and tools for searching flights, especially considering current travel restrictions due to Covid-19.
Last time I was looking at USA-Thailand routes I found an interesting option, 28 hour layover in Tokyo (or nearby). I don't know if its available or even worthwhile with Covid restrictions.
If you're not familiar, google.com/flights allow you to look at several different options, days, layover, prices, etc.
I flew JAL from LAX to NRT then NRT to BKK a few days ago. Great service, good prices, and plenty of room to spread out. (I laid down across 4 seats and slept on both legs).
