What are the best low-cost ways to fly from Chiang Mai to Savannakhet in Laos for a visa?

Okay, I think the O/P has caught on to the fact they ain't gonna fly from Chiang Mai to Savannakhet.

Seeing as the O/P wants to fly, doesn't want to take a mini-van or bus, and doesn't wanna switch planes in Bangkok to get there, I think this topic ran it's course.

Thanx to one and all for offering out the alternate ways they can get there.

There's NO way you can fly from Chiang Mai to Savannakhet direct.

I'd recommend a flight to ubon and then a bus to mukdahan and then the bus to savan easy as cheese and you will have plenty time

Okay, the O/P did state in an answer to a post that they are in Chiang Mai and they are wanting to go get a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai in Savannakhet.

From where? state details where u want to fly from might help

Nok Air to Ubon Ratchathani - then taxi to the bus station. Bus to Mukdahan. If you are tired and want to go to the Savannaket Thai Consulate the next morning stop at the Kiengpiman hotel in Mukdahan - nice place and they will get you a taxi early to cross the bridge into Savannakhet. Or you can cross the bridge immediately after getting to Mukdahan and stay at the Avalon Hotel Savannakhet - nice place - easy to get to the Thai Consulate.

Flying in and out of Savannakhet is fought with poor schedules and high price.

you could use the thai consulate in Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam. They give the same year-long, multi-entry Non-O based on marriage with the same documentation that Savannakhet does (and they don't require proof of funds either (y) ).

I don't think anyone flies CMX to ZVK. Your best bet would be to fly to a nearby city (Nakhon Phanom, Ubon, etc) and take a mini van to Mukdahan then cross the bridge to Savannakhet.

How about sayin' what kind of visa you're wanting? Maybe there's another consulate that'll issue it which is easier for you to get to.

Your BEST and cheapest airline to use would be either Air Asia or Nok Air and their Fly-N-Ride program to Mukdahan. Flying directly into Savannakhet ain't all that cheap.
