Hi there , I’m preparing to fly on 8 September to Bkk and I bought a return ticket for April 2025 . I now need to get a cheap ticket to fly out of Thailand around 26 October to show I have an onward flight to Qatar airways . I’m looking for suggestions on airlines to nearby countries to purchase a cheap return ticket. I looked at the onward flight tickets that has been suggested but I’m not wanting any complications so would be happy to buy cheap return ticket. Any suggestions welcome

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice on purchasing a cheap ticket for an onward flight from Thailand to comply with entry requirements. Various suggestions have been provided, including using Air Asia, booking bus tickets to Cambodia, or utilizing onward ticket services. Several comments discuss the necessity of an onward ticket for entry, as well as recommendations for flights to nearby countries like Malaysia and Cambodia for as low as 24 GBP. Others share their personal experiences regarding onward ticket checks at immigration.

I use an app called Tripit, given you have a confirmed onwards ticket just that it's more than 90 day after, I would post an itinerary on my Tripit app show a couple of trips out and into Thai, using online info. Eg 10days to Hanoi. Bus trip to Siem Riep. If you get questioned (in 50 yrs I've been questioned once) tell them it cheaper to buy the tickets in BKK.

How do you plan on staying in Thailand for so long? That’s over 6 months.

Are you entitled to 60 day visa exemption? If so, you have until early November.

Just download a $12 bus ticket out of Thailand. Easy peasey. Show it if asked,

Don't waste any money on this pointless nonsense. Donating money to an airline just to qualify for entry is not necessary.

Get a bus ticket from Nong Khai for 300 baht, or book a refundable ticket. Or step over your fears to use an onward ticket service, you would not be the first doing that successfully.

If you got a visa to stay 6 months I don't see the issue. If you don't have the right visa you better of with one way ticket to Thailnd and cheap onward bus/train ticket to Malaysia/Cambodia/Laos. They don't care what you do after you 'leave' the country

I just flew in on a one way ticket August 25 from America. No one asked for an onward ticket when I checked in and received all of my boarding passes and immigration just stamped me through and welcomed me when I arrived.

Yes I know the requirements. Bangkok airways and Viet Jet has flights to Cambodia and Vietnam for 50-75 dollars every day if you want to be on the safe side.

I have been asked for an onward ticket on my last two trips. I wouldn’t risk it. It depends on the airline.

Buy onward as others have told you. Have before you board your flight to Thailand Sept 8.

I have been traveling last 15 years with 4 to 6 trips per year and never had issues with Onward Ticket.

Buy it before, that shows a ticket out of Thailand 1 or 2 months after your arrival. They may ask you Sept 8 before you board. I have never had immigration ask, but if they did you show them the same.

Is it not ok with the return ticket you’ve already bought ?

I know it’s 6 months away but its still a return ticket 🤷‍♂️

no it needs to be an onward ticket to use before your visa stamp expires. Fo most people now that will be 59 days from your arrival date

the requirement is for a tourism entry to have proof of onward travel within the period that you originally get stamped in for

well I’ve been several times with either visa exempt or a 60 day visa always staying for 90 days and always having a return ticked for the full period flying either Qatar or Finair, never a problem , maybe I was just lucky.

have you actually used this? The reason I ask it doesn’t actually give you a ticket and a few reports on another site said the airline can question it. I just don’t want to mess it up . Thanks

yes I have. It was accepted but Asiana. If you do it day before your flight, the reservation is good for 48hrs. You can (if you want) purchase the flight

Don’t have to be a returnticket, just a onwardticket out of Thailand.

It can be any ticket, bus, train ( flight )

I can’t remember if I used this specific company but these companies issue a ticket, so there’s no need to worry in that respect.
