TLDR : Answer Summary
The query seeks suggestions for a room rental in Bangkok priced around 5000 Baht per month. However, many comments highlight that finding suitable accommodations in this price range, especially in prime areas like Sathon, is extremely challenging. Respondents suggest considering areas further away from central districts for more affordable options, while also advising potential additional expenses for utilities. Resources like rental websites, apps, and local listings are recommended for more effective searches.
It is easy to get a room in Bangkok for 2000 -2500 but not in that area. That said you don't have to go too remote. My friend has a room for 1780 in the Ramkhamhaeng area but for relatively central and good communications the best area to look for cheapies is Victory Monument area. 8000 would get a proper full facility studio across a lot of Bangkok but not the area you are talking of. Other definite no areas are Thonglor and Ekkamai.

Room for this price are far from there. As said its one of the most expensive areas of bkk. Or try to find a room in a local people house.

You’re not going to find anything for 5,000b a month within those areas of the map you posted. There are apartments/condos around that price range but it’s about 1 hr bts ride to Lumphini area. Budget will need to be at a minimum of 15,000b-20,000b to be around Lumphini.
Look around bang wa and bang phai off the mrt station. You might find some places for around 5,000b-8,000b

Near mrt Sutthisan I rented 5000 thb per month, however electricity 🔌 fee is a bit higher now about, 10-12 thb per unit, so it's another 5000 thb per month for electricity 🔌 and water, 🛜

I workout at the Parc and it is next to the MRT. If you want 5k then you have to travel a bit. You just have to find her a place about 5 or 6 mrt stations away from MRT Queen Sirikit.

Probably have to sleep under a bridge for that in Bangkok.

You can search room by the website "livinginside". it's a rend platform in Thailand

Do you hate your daughter that much? Do you want to punish her? Why do you want her to struggle that much?
If you will even find something she will likely be in 'dodgy' areas close to questionable people 😅

Reminds me of the people that hear that Thailand is cheap and they do no research and just think they should be able to find a unit for $160 month. I’m sorry but I have a hard time assisting people like that. Like if they would have said I did some research in these areas and haven’t found something in my price range. Something like that is more showing you care enough that you did some research and seeking help and advice. No advice should really be given to laziness.
The OP has lived here 20 yrs but lives in Chiang Mai which is notably less expensive than Bangkok. He was just trying to help his Thai citizen daughter move since she graduated from College earlier this year.
I agree. Also Thailand don't want this kind of people. Because as a foreigner you are a cost for them (police and other services) but no money to contribute. You are a liability. This is why they put financial requirements, to block broke people to live long term.

For all the people making snarky comments about how low the price is, have you never thought about who lives in these often older buildings often with no name that seem to be apartments? Have you never talked with poorer thais about where they live and how much they pay? I was talking with a security guard at my old place and I was talking about places I was looking at to move to. The rent price was 20k and he said that was more than his entire month salary, Let that sink in. A full time Security guard was making 20k or less a month.
Here's a 42SQ M @6000 Baht place in that area

Someone mentioned RentHub. There are a LOT of cheap serviced apartments on there. I think with Renthub they essentially expect you to find them on there and then make a physical visit.
If she goes south of the River there, it gets quite a bit cheaper quickly. Not much cheaper than the above link but more choices and slightly cheaper.
First, His daughter is a Thai citizen. You assumed she was an expat too?
But if a foreigner wants or needs to live cheaply, let them live as they want. Even someone spending less than the average expat is bringing money into Thailand that is being spent which helps businesses depending on their business to be more successful.

You may be able to find a Thai style studio for that much but it'll likely not be in the best condition and/or location with zero amenities. If your daughter is Thai, this might be okay, if she's a foreigner she'll likely be pretty miserable.

5000 is quite low and it will be basic accommodation at that price..
Basically a single room with attached bathroom and if you are extremely lucky a small balcony for a very simple kitchen area.
You should expect to pay more like 7000+ for something decent and comfortable.
Between On Nut and Ekamai would be worth looking but try to get something at least walking distance to a BTS skytrain station..
That's very important in Bangkok for public transport..
In time she will learn to navigate the public bus system as well hopefully..
But that can be slow and frustrating in peak traffic conditions..

15,000 baht up is more realistic for this location. If her new job isn’t paying her enough to cover 15,000 baht in rent then it’s not worth it.

you will find something for 5k but your daughters has to share that with molds, roaches and pests. That's probably the most expensive area of bkk and the price you set is for the outskirt of a city in the middle of nowhere. For that area, anything decent goes from 10/
You might be talking from a farang ghetto where you might be.
Same as the OP who thinks it is reasonable. It is not.
Who on Earth would place his daughter into a slum? Where not even police would come in unless mounted?

If your child is old enough to go work in Bangkok, they're old enough to arrange their own accommodation. Stop mothering your adult child. It's embarrassing for both of you.
I'm sure they appreciate your parenting advice on a post looking for accommodations.

Seri-Thai or Ramkhamhaeng area might be a good place for her to look. I stay on Ram and pay 7000 a month for a pretty nice place.

Bare in mind I am a 34 year old physically fit man with a fighting background though so im pretty comfortable living away from foreigners though. There's barely any around here, but I prefer that since im trying to immerse myself and assimilate/learn more thai so it works for me.

Not going to happen. Step it up to 15,000 baht per month and Maybe you will find a nice safe studio with a long walk to rail.
you could not be more wrong. . . . . go check 9apartment dot com rental advertisements for Central and greater Bangkok, or the website renthub Thai . . . there are thousands of rooms that can be rented for 5000 THB

You're better off looking further away from that area and she can use the BTS to travel to work

Maybe the lowest you can find in central Bangkok is 10k and even higher. That area is a bit on the prime one. I work in Central World, but live in Thonburi area. A bit far, but the rent is cheaper. Good thing there’s a lot of ways to transport to compensate for the distance.
I suggest you enter this area of Bangkok (Sathon) into the search mask of the website 9apartment dot com. However I reckon you won't find anything for 5000 THB within this area, it is a prime living district
funny . You answered with some in price so far from your budget.. 😂😅

It’s a prime area for Bangkok. 5k baht seems hard to find. If you get a place in a deep Soi. It may be dangerous for your daughter at night when she gets back to her apartment. Also consider the environment of the apartments too, not just the price.
