Hi Everyone,

Any recommendation on an affordable lodging (not more than 800 baht/night) in Bangkok that accepts a medium size dog (17kg)?

Been searching airbnb and hotels but either too expensive or they have a limit of 10kg/dog. 😥 Worse, stated pet-friendly but then in the payment page stated "pet not allowed".

We are looking at the period of 13 to 31 March 2022.

Thank you very much! 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking affordable lodging in Bangkok for a medium-sized dog weighing 17kg, looking for options under 800 baht per night. The search has been challenging due to high prices and strict pet policies at hotels and Airbnbs. Responses suggest considering lower-cost hotels like Udom Suk Hotel (600 baht) and Ploy Khumthong Boutique Resort, which is pet-friendly and near the airport. However, community members express concerns about bringing a dog to Bangkok due to a lack of pet-friendly spaces.

I can totally understand why one would want to bring a puppy on a family trip, but as a dog breeder, lover and trainer, Thailand, where over 90% of all dogs are untamed roaming freely on the streets, is definitely Not be the best place to come relax with your puppy. Specially in the case of a dog to heavy to carry as this would definitely be considered a very high risk for dog attacks. While walking around as a human rarely is cause for alarm, bringing a domestic dog around the other street/wild dogs territory, specially in the dark which starts around 6pm, will most certainly cause you and your puppy major grief. Although I totally understand wanting to keep the family together for this Thai adventure, if you really love your pet, I would strongly advise to keep him safe in your home country for this one. Hope this helps and safe travels

Have you heard the phrase 'hand luggage only'. Its mentioned by groups travelling together to ensure that all in the group bring ONLY hand luggage, to ensure they all pass through the journey together, at the same speed with the minimum interruptions and stoppages. I am genuinely fascinated to learn why you would bring a 17kg German Shepard to thailand, which is not very pet friendly, where there is gangs of dogs on every street corner. You will spend every minute worrying about your dog. You won't be able to visit places you'd like to. It's just shi⁹ po but. I would love knod rmh they

Once u settle here you will find it hard to go anywhere with your dog bma have banned dogs from all parks - not allowed on MRT or BTS . Or shops or restaurants.. there are a few special dog friendly places but few and far between … condos often have dog bans also and even if building permits dogs owner often says no ! Good luck …

it keeps your dog safe. There’s lots and lots of wild dogs and some of them aren’t scared of others.

-it has always been that way … there are a couple of dog parks but not in central bkk …

This is a bit out of town (close to the airport) but great for dogs of all sizes and should be in your price range. Agoda quotes me 600

Ploy Khumthong Boutique Resort

I would look in AirBNB. Also much cheaper if you do for a month, 30 days. Even tho you aren’t staying that long but usually much cheaper

i am not sure if it is my limited skills...but i cannot seem to find any suitable one! 🙈

Either super duper luxe big place which is an overkill for just the 3 of us...or they limit to just 10kg dogs. 🙄

I would look at the lower end and offer more money. Lots of places by Nana Plaza

udom suk hotel 600baht do,t know about pets

That'll be a challenge 🙁 800 THB is the "upper low end" for hotels in Bangkok. You'd have to go much more expensive to find a place.

Is this your first time in Thailand anyway? I wouldn't want to bring a dog to Bangkok 😮

2 words. Bad idea.

thanks for your input!

Yes, our first time in Bangkok. Plan to stay there for a while hence bringing our dog along.

Benjamin Hays actually a good majority of hotels away from the sumumvit line can be found under 1k baht a night. I'd assume if theyre traveling with a large dog then they ha e their own transportation, so shouldn't be an issue. Finding a hotel that takes dogs though might be tough.

Thanks for the advice.

Would you know how I can find apartments or other private lodging that can accept dogs that are not toy dogs? 😅

Unfortunately most condos in Bangkok prohibit pets. I've never seen it, but most agents will tell you there's a housing regulation in BMA (bangkok metropolitan authority) that prohibits it, but I don't think that's actually true.

Especially with a larger dog, you're probably going to be limited to houses and townhouses. Use FB marketplace and ask the agents/owners if they accept pets. I think there's even a FB group for properties in bkk that accepts pets.
