I am interested to find out the recent experience of people using the Thai E-Visa [members only]/ for their Non-O retirement visa, especially if you were here in Thailand when you made the request.

I obtained a Non-O visa and one year extension through an agent last year and I will be unable to request another year extension in November since I had to withdraw most of my funds for cancer treatment in the US earlier this year.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post seeks recent experiences of individuals applying for the Thai E-Visa for a Non-O retirement visa, specifically mentioning the challenge of applying while being in Thailand. A commenter notes that one must be outside Thailand to apply for a visa through the embassy, highlighting that the application requires the applicant to declare their physical location. Another commenter adds that obtaining a Non-O visa within Thailand involves depositing 800,000 baht in a Thai bank and applying at a local immigration office.

The requirement to apply for a visa is that you must be physically in the jurisdiction of the embassy in order to apply. That means you must be in the country of the embassy and not inside Thailand both to apply and until the visa is issued. The application specifically asks where you are physically at. Anything else would be based on fraud.
