What are my options for visa extension and traveling with my dog in Thailand?

Hello, everyone. I’ve been thoroughly researching this whole situation, and I still don’t know what’s the best option for me or where I should go to get everything taken care of.

My 60 days will be up in two weeks.

I’m traveling with my dog, and I know I’ll need to go to the vet and get a health certificate to leave the country again, which is already a headache.

I’m worried about not receiving her health certificate on time, and I obviously don’t want to get kicked out of the country. I was given incorrect information, and I wasn’t aware of the timeline.

These are my questions:

1. What happens if her health certificate arrives three weeks late and I’m here for more than 60 days? Will I get kicked out?

2. I have money in the bank, but I don’t want to pay any unnecessary money for this visa process. I’m considering going to Vietnam to apply for the visa and come back. Is this a good place to apply for the visa?

3. If Vietnam is a good place to apply for the visa, what kind of visa should I apply for?

4. How many times will I have to do these visa runs a year?

5. What documents should I bring to apply for my visa? Will I only need a printout of my bank statements, my passport, a printed photo of myself?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is concerned about their upcoming visa expiration in Thailand while traveling with their dog, who requires a health certificate to leave the country. They are unsure of the extension process and the timeline for obtaining the required documentation. Key questions include the implications of staying beyond the 60 days, the feasibility of applying for a visa in Vietnam versus Laos, and necessary documents for the visa application. Several commenters provided advice on extending the visa for 30 days at an immigration office, recommended alternatives to Vietnam, and tips for handling pet-related travel requirements.

I'd recommend boonma company based in thailand flew my dog to Ireland and back if that's what you want but rabies, health certs are down to local vets. Or in the case of rabies as there is no qualified vet in the entire country, you'll have to send blood sample to the U.K. They make nothing easy here! TIT

Don’t go to Vietnam. It requires a visa in advance for Americans. Laos is visa on arrival.

Get a 30 day extension to hold you over. As far as which long term visa to apply for. If you’re still in Thailand on visa exempt you gotta figure that part out.

You might not need a passport photo. Last year, the Udon Thani immigration office took the photo electronically/at no cost. They politely told me not to worry about bringing a photo next time.

if you need to leave the country in order to apply for a visa in a neighbouring country, you could maybe leave your dog in the care of a temple or a private person or a dog shelter . .google for addresses near you
