Hi all!

Happy new year! Hoping to hear some of your experiences with visas.

I’m currently a little, tiny bit stuck in Africa lol. My student visa for Thailand is going to expire next week, so the way I see it, my options are:

1. Re-enter Thailand on a tourist visa and change to a student visa once I’ve finished quarantine. I’m already half way through my course though (masters program at Mahidol university). Do you think this will cause me issues?

2. Head to Cambodia and re-apply for my student visa from there. Getting more and more keen for my own bed though but wondering if this is the safest option.

As an aside, has anyone entered quarantine with their visa due to expire in the middle of it? Do they still let you in?

Thanks for any insight you have! 🌻🌻🌻

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice on options for renewing their expiring student visa for Thailand while currently in Africa. They are considering re-entering Thailand on a tourist visa before switching to a student visa or traveling to Cambodia to apply for the student visa again. They are concerned about issues related to quarantine and the timing of their visa expiration.

You may not be able to enter Thailand if your stamp is not enough to go through quarantine.

You need to talk with your uni first. Which of your 1 or 2 is better totally depends on how your uni helps your visa for studying at Uni.

Warning to members: please not comment unless you had/have/know about the Non-ED based on studying at a national university. Conditions and requirements are different from Non-ED based on studying at a private language (or other such as Muay Thai) school.

I don't know how many campuses your uni has, did you talk with them specifying which immigration office serves your address or campus?

thanks! My uni has pretty much said it’s up to the immigration office so up to me which route to take.

Hoping to hear from someone with experience, fingers crossed!
