Hello everyone! 🌞

Can I please ask advice:

I’m from Vietnam. I’m staying in Thailand with one year student visa. I been study at Thai’s language school for about 3 months …

I want to fly out of Thailand for visit friends just a few days

But I’m so worried and scared when I get back to Thailand I will get stop/ deny at immigration at the airport and they will send me back to my country …

I have letters from my school. I have contract documents with my landlord that I’m renting condo in Thailandfor a year!

Plus I have all documents from my class, my teacher, my homework, my classmates for show at immigration…

Anyone has experience with this situation please???? Appreciate very much 🌹…

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user from Vietnam is concerned about flying out of Thailand for a few days while holding a one-year student visa. They worry about being denied re-entry upon return, despite having many supporting documents from their school and landlord. Various comments suggest that while it's generally allowed to leave and return with a student visa, experiences with immigration can vary greatly, with some users highlighting instances of denial even with proper documentation. Others recommend obtaining a Re-entry Permit and ensuring school letters confirm no missed classes during the absence.

Dont forget to request for Re-entry Permit at the airport and answer all questions by immigration officer ;)

Although it seems reasonable enough to be able to go home for a few days when you have no class, and even if home is less than two hours flight away, everything I’ve read here implies that you could be denied entry upon return. It seems you are trapped in the kingdom!

yes, I know. It’s a shame, because when researching the ED visa, it clearly states that you are allowed to leave and come back if you apply for a re-entry permit. You shouldn’t have to do further research to find out otherwise. If people knew that it would be a problem, they probably wouldn’t apply for it in the first place. I was going to apply for it, but now I am applying for DTV once I found out about not being able to leave.

Immigration isn't very happy about the ED-visa because people have been abusing it for years.

yeah I know. It’s just a shame innocent people get the short end of the stick without realising. The official word from immigration is that you are definitely allowed to leave and re enter. They should just get rid of the visa if they don’t like it.

Immigration doesn't issue visas, embassies and consulates do. Immigration just enforces laws.

The IO might speak to you in Thai and expect you to reply in Thai language. Maybe simple written test too if they suspect you're not actually learning. If they're not satisfied with your Thai language proficiency, they might deny you entry. Good luck.

I've seen multiple reports of people with everything you have, and the immigration officers even call and talk to staff at the school, and still deny entry.

You told immigration you NEED to be in Thailand to study. That you NEED a visa so that you can stay in Thailand to study. And now your actions are telling them you don't really need to be in Thailand after all.
