Hi, I recently gone to Thailand to scout & visit Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket. We ddecided to move there to Thailand within a year or less. We will be on a retirement visa, and he's a 100% disabled veteran. Is there any lawyers, or advocate that anyone will share with me to help us move abroad? Thank you, in advance!

why do so many americans have to say 'I'm a veteran', you do realise that nobody outside of USA cares and it has no bearing on the availabilty or status of a visa in any country except possibly USA.

0hucket is great for beaches, fine dining etc but is expensive.

Bangkok, great for shopping great food, but it's humid and the traffic is crazy.

Chiang Mai as everything except beaches but we have stunning mountains and country side on hour door steps.

I'd say come for an extended holiday and check them all out

Questions you should be asking… how much does it cost to use a lawyer or visa service to assist you? If it is not in your budget then you can research to do it yourself.

What does it entail to do it yourself?

What types of hurdles have you encountered?

Ultimately you need to learn the process as you will have constant reporting and expenses. Better to learn now.

Disabled veteran has no bearing. If you are both 50 or over you can both get Non-O visas based on retirement

A lot depends on your age and financial situation and what visa you qualify for. Start there. There are agents and companies that can assist for a fee. Look up Thai Visa Center Bangkok on Google or Thai visa agents. Then discuss your situation directly.

Food is best in Bangkok but I'd take a look at smaller areas near Khon Kaen if ya want some quiet and decent place to visit without so much traffic 🚦. :).

Just get the 90 day non-O before arriving. Few hoops to jump through once you arrive: Open Thai bank account asap. Deposit funds. When seasoned apply for 12 month extension.
