TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian expat inquires about the best health insurance options for a two-month stay in Thailand, debating between Canadian and Thai providers. Many commenters suggest getting travel insurance from Canada, especially for a short duration, highlighting options such as SafetyWing and specific Canadian bank insurances. The expat mentions opting for Blue Cross for comprehensive coverage at $150/month.

Hello Philip. We are Canadian and if you have a premium credit card it will cover you for 45 days for travel and emergency medical but of course you want to confirm. For 60 days we just use RBC travel insurance and you can get single or multi trip. And it is full travel and emergency insurance so more extensive. Bith options for us cover extensive and repatriation. Depending on age will be a factor as well. Credit cards don't cover over 65 (we have been told) but our insurance does.

Look for a travel insurance with extended health coverage. You positively will find much better options in Canada than in Thailand

Your best bet is to get travel insurance from your home country if only here for 2 months …. I would avoid buying it from Asia …. There are a few that really stand out like digital nomads and I believe it’s called safety wings …. Can easily be bought on line

Just buy travel insurance if it’s only for 2 months

Most travel insurance policies are good for 90 days

Safetywing is a month to month travel insurance

Good luck

Philip Kean I too am a Canadian and have started shopping for travel medical insurance. Did you shop around? Was Blue Cross the best price you found for yourself?

Abby Picklejinx I have used Blue Cross before and found it to be very good. The price I received I thought was a reasonable quote however a friend of mine is going to get back to me as his cousin is in this business so I can let you know in a day or two the Blue Cross contact I had her name was Kimberly and the phone number was 8339501153. It was called a three and one package which included everythingtravel insurance baggage et cetera emergency medical repatriation to Canada and I’ll get back to you if I hear from my friend maybe see you there.👍
