Hi, UK passport holder here. I will be retiring to jomtien once I have finished off a couple of jobs, having said that the company I work for have asked if I could go back to the UK a couple of times a year for 1-2 month duration to carry out some work. My question is, would I be better off getting a retirement visa or a DTV.? thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK passport holder considering retirement in Jomtien is weighing the choice between a retirement visa and a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa). The comments suggest that while the retirement visa has its complexities, particularly concerning renewal times when returning to the UK for work, it is ultimately seen as a more stable and beneficial option due to its allowances for bank accounts and long-term use. Users advise that the retirement visa can be managed with careful timing for renewals and provides greater security regarding potential changes to the DTV.

Retirement visa is definitely the way to go as you can get a Thai bank account renewal can be done upto 45 days before the visa expires just have to time it right,90 day reporting resets to 0 when you return

Retirement is without doubt the better visa, you can get bank accounts and it's more future proof (fair chance the DTV gets binned/changed before too long) but, as Mark says, you would need to be In Thailand at renewal time or you have a problem

Retirement visa might be a pain if renewal falls near the dates you return to UK,DTV is 5 years No renewal
