My MTV expires on may 12, should I extend another 30 days ? Or just wait until the amnesty kicks in?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The decision to extend your MTV (Multiple Entry Visa) for another 30 days or wait for an upcoming amnesty is a personal one. Currently, you don't qualify for the existing amnesty program, but you might be covered under a future one. Some suggest taking the 30-day extension to avoid complications later, while others recommend being clear about wanting the extension to avoid being pushed into the amnesty option.

don't be afraid to TELL them you WANT the 30 day extension. They might try to shoe-horn you into the "free amnesty".

That is totally a decision that YOU have to make.

You're not covered on this current amnesty program (because that only covers people up to the 30th) BUT you would be covered on the new one that hasn't been enacted yet and it would allow you to stay not longer than July 31st.

Personally I would take the hard stamp 30 day extension (but that's me) and that way I wouldn't be fooling with this fairy tale amnesty imaginary stamp where thousands of people stamps all expire the same day :O

BUT that's just me

thanks for the reply, I happen to agree with you there. I rather have an extension that's hard on my passport, especially when I have the chance to. This amnesty and automatic extension will not come without a cost, it's simply to good to be true. I'm sure we will know more when the final statement is made and the law is official. I will pop by immigration May 1st and see what they say. Cheers, I appreciate all the good work everyone does here
