I applied for the non OA visa through the New York consulate on July 6, and it's still being processed. My flight is in about 8 days. Should I be concerned?

Sometimes they just wait until the very last days prior to flight date stated in the application. They approved mine the day before my travel date after more than 1 month of keeping it ''under review''

You could try messaging the consulate through their Facebook page. They tend to respond fairly well on Facebook. Just make sure you only send a single message, short and concise, with all the necessary information.

Hello my name is xxx, passport number xxx and OA visa application XXXX. I submitted my application on xxxx and wanted to check on the status as it has been a month and my flight date is soon.

Something like that.
