When I fly into Bangkok should I arrange a place to stay in advance or will it be okay to find somewhere to when I arrive? Something not to expensive but in a safe area. Any suggestions? Thanks
Answer summary
It is advisable to arrange your accommodation in advance before arriving in Bangkok. Having proof of your accommodation is a requirement for entering Thailand as a tourist, which may be checked by immigration authorities. Several commenters suggest booking your first few nights through platforms like Agoda or Booking.com to ensure you have a confirmed place to stay and to satisfy immigration requirements. This approach allows you to get settled and then explore or find a different place later.

I’d book at least for the first few nights then maybe move somewhere else. Depends how long your staying and on what area.
Proof of accomodations is a requirement to enter Thailand as a tourist. If immigration asks you for proof of where you're staying, and you cannot provide it, they can deny entry.
Your TDAC will also require you to enter where you're staying when you first arrive and you must submit that before you arrive
