Should I Apply for My ED Visa First Before Applying for My Son's Dependent Visa?

Hello all. Perhaps some of you would be able to help with my question.. I am applying for an ED visa, and my son will be my dependent. (will apply for a dependent visa for him). Should I go to the Thai Embassy in Vientianne together with my son? Or do I need to first get my ED visa, and once I have it, I can take another trip to Vientiane to try to get a dependent visa for my son? The school where I will study told me that my son and I need to go to Vientianne at the same time even if I don't have a visa yet... So I am a little confused.

I hope some of you could shed some light on this and help me out. Thank you so very much in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification on the process of applying for an ED visa and a dependent visa for their son, particularly whether they need to apply together at the Thai Embassy in Vientianne or if the ED visa should be obtained first.

Basically, dependent can apply Non-O visa along with main person's visa application, OR can apply later for Non-O to main person with long-term extension.

I am enrolling to a Hand to Hand Combat School. And the school also provided documents. Does my son need to be physically present to apply for a dependent visa?

wait, are you enrolling to private language school? Does your school provide documents for your son to apply Non-O?

Ah, so once my 90 days is up and I get to extend it for another 90 days, then he can apply for his dependent visa?

, so it means it is possible that I apply for my ED visa first then after a month (once the lockdown in the Philippines is over), I can apply for my son's dependent visa? We don't have to do it at the same time?

I would take your son with you. Who would watch over your son if you're in Laos, and what if you can't get back to Thailand?

, my son is in the Philippines with his dad (my ex husband). I am in Hoi An. Unfortunately, the Philippines is in a lockdown right now, so my son can't fly out of the country. I am planning on going to Vientianne first to try to get my ED visa and once the lockdown is over in the Philippines (April 14th), I will get him and go to Vientianne with him to apply for his dependent visa. I am just confused because the school said I can't apply for a dependent visa for my son once I have already been issued an ED visa. This is why I'm confused. Because I know someone who needed to get a work visa first before he could apply for a dependent visa for his wife and kids. I'm just not sure if the same also works for an ED visa.
