TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) via the ‘soft Thai’ route (which includes courses like Muay Thai training, language learning, cooking classes, etc.), it is essential to confirm whether the institution is approved by the Thai authorities. While general guidelines suggest the need for approved schools, the exact requirements can vary depending on the embassy handling your application. There appears to be no official comprehensive list of approved institutions available publicly, and individuals are advised to check past community posts for recommendations. It is crucial to ensure that the institution you choose meets the standards set by the authorities to avoid issues with your visa application.
Like many things to do with Thai bureacracy, I’m assuming the answer will depend upon the specific embassy you use for your application. So i am seeking specific experiences as there is nothing in the DtV general literature to say one way or the other. I don’t want to arrange a trip and find that the embassy requires admission to a place that is on an approved list. I am happy to apply to a place on such a list if it exists.
Meantime I will also follow your suggestion to trawl through other posts on here …
