Hello guys. I need some information. I tried to Google but i can not find the answer. Anyone know the boarder by Mukdahan to Savannakhet it is open 24 hours a day? My driver is late and we will arrive about 7-8PM. Can we still get trough and get a Laos visa? I am going for a boarder bounce to get my 90 days stamp.

thank you guys but my driver is still not arrived so probably we have to re-schedule it for tomorrow. if i have a stamp with the date of 27th that means i am allowed to stay until 27th midnight am i right? so if he sleeps here by us and we go tomorrow i will be still good?

the border closes at 10pm and can only be opened after that for medical emergencies. What can happen, Laos being Laos, is that the visa on arrival guys knock off early because they feel sleepy and if you rock up at 21.45 you might find the visa on arrival window is dark and a couple of beer Lao bottle caps lying around on the floor. I agree with Tod, your plan B sounds better

i got you. so it is not even guaranteed the border will be open after 10pm. i see. so stays plan B we go tomorrow after when i finished wiht my first day of driving licence

The border opens at 6AM though so if you're there in the morning you can get stamped outta thailand, stamped in&out of Lao and then back into thailand.

mentioned above? can we get a visa on arrival any time after 10pm? my problem is i have an appointment for tomorrow 8.30am for driving licence. if i miss it i have to wait who knows how long for the next available slot. so if we go today and we arrive let me say 11pm or midnight can we still get a visa on arrival with that above mentioned fee?

Be aware that you may need to pay a small fee if you arrive outside of laos office hours

Steven Baan no, if you arrive too early they have a desk that charges you a fee, it's the same if you arrive late in the afternoon too. They still close up shop in the evening though.

6am - 10pm. However Laos visa on arrival can close earlier... so get there as early as you can. At 8pm though I think you'll be alright
