Is 500,000 baht required in bank for reentry on existing DTV workation visa? I’ve already entered once and wanna head back
Answer summary
The requirement to show 500,000 baht in the bank for reentry on a DTV workation visa has mixed responses among the community. While some advise maintaining the amount due to potential checks by immigration, many express that it is rare to be asked at the border. The 500,000 baht was a requirement during the visa application process but is not commonly requested upon reentry. Nevertheless, holding the funds is suggested for emergencies, and it's emphasized that the rules serve a purpose.

The deposit is meant as emergency funds, if you have accidents, like going to hospital (pay before treatment), fines, compensations and other arising expenses.So do you really want to be without the 500.000 Baht.

Single digit chance you will be asked. Take the risk or don't. Or do what you are supposed to do. If it is a requirement for the visa and you want to use that visa,

have the money.
Dermot ***********
Why would you not have the money in the bank especially when re-entering the country? The rules are in place for a reason. One bad apple spoils the crop.

Because 500,000 THB is an application requirement. 20,000 THB is an entry requirement.

No, it is not a requirement for entry. /DTV holder since August 2024

The DTV is a tourist visa.

Subject to tourism rules.

20k is needed.

As for the 500,000 only needed on application.

Very rare to get asked any questions entering thailand on a DTV
Dermot ***********

both stipulations can be true its not either/or. Chances are nobody will be asked to prove their finances but dems da rules. Without rules we have disorder.

Sure.

If I was king of Thailand, I would do the same.

Hand over 500k at time of application: and be done with it.

We do not need you to have 500k all the time.

It is only for urgent medical treatment and secured funds in case of other emergencies.

We take care for it and keep it save for you ...

Dream on: idiot.

The fact that visa requirements are not aked very often does not change the fact that they just can ask,

The 20k is general for al tourists and can be demanded to have in cash, and there is no ATM before immigration.

The 500k is a specific requirement for DTV visa and can be in direct accessible accounts worldwide. It will be asked for sure at application, and extension time, but can also be asked at entry.

Bot of them do not need to be in Thai baht, any currency is OK.

it never gets asked for at extension. They don’t waste their time.

All reports for extension say you have to present all initial documents updated.

Do you have a different experience? At which Immigration office?

You should have the 500k in your bank account since Immigration can ask you to show it at anytime

@Za ******
no they can't. They can only ask you to show 20,000 THB in cash at entry.

Why do you keep posting incorrect information on every single post?
Jay ******************
Phuket and Chiang Mai Airports (only) occasionally ask DTV holders to complete Passenger Statement Forms. Almost always at first entry but sometimes later (reports of 5th and 6th entry repectively). More rarely, they asked for application documents to be attached to an email and sent to an email address displayed upon the wall of the interview room. Passenger Statement Form has three boxes for financial details; 1) Cash, 2) Bank balance and 3) Other. There is no mention of any specific requirement (such as 500,000 THB). Nobody has been denied entry due to whatever they might have written upon this form. Some claim it's obtained for statistical purposes only.
Steve *******
Jay Jay Trollslayer exactly. There is no 500k requirement for entry. IOs can ask for and check anything they feel like. The completely false information this Za person is spreading is that you have to fulfill all the visa requirements at entry.
Za *******
@Steve ******
they can ask for all the DTV requirements and they are asking. Stop living under a rock Steve
Steve *******
@Greg *****
they were asked to show these documents but no one was denied entry for not showing those documents, as long as they fulfilled the tourism requirements.
Za *******
@Steve ******
why do you think 500k is an application requirement if you suddenly don’t need it anymore after you get the visa? Is it only the embassy having fun checking your bank account?🤔
Greg ******
@Steve ******
I'm answering to your very own list of requirements for DTV entry. Both were DTV holders required to show more documentation than mentioned in your list.
Steve *******
@Za ******
sure. But you keep arguing. Immigration questions hundreds of people every day. The argument here is that there is no requirement to show 500k in your account at entry. But you seem to have forgotten that and are just arguing for argument's sake.

You're not right. Just let it go and have a nice day.
Za *******
@Steve ******
no Steve, it‘s just that I am tired and lazy to search through all the posts and comments just to try to convince someone who lives in his own world and cannot be convinced. There are about 5 or 6 people in this group who have their own interpretation and think DTV is God’s visa and if you have it Immigration is not allowed to question you or deny you entry because you have the DTV and you are the chosen one. Once you received it you there is no rule and no requirement and they need to stamp you in for 180 days, no matter what. No one can change the mindset of people like you, only Immigration when they take you out for questioning.
Steve *******
@Za ******
you still haven't presented a single piece of evidence to prove your point, and now you've turned to personal attacks. The desperate tactic of someone who's trying to win an argument they've already lost. Well player, Za 👏
Za *******
@Steve ******
you and the Trollslayer guy can go hold hands together, this is probably his 10th burner profile after getting banned 10 times from the group exactly for spreading informations like you, that there are no requirements after getting the visa. Absolutely delusional
Steve *******
@Za ******
show me a single one that said they got denied for not having 500k and I will say you're right. Just one.
Steve *******
@Greg *****
and again, no mention of checking for 500k in an account.
Steve *******
@Greg *****
so right here. They checked that he was doing what his visa said, not working illegally in Thailand and they "counted cash" which is the rule they enforce at entry as a tourist.

Nowhere does it say that he had to have 500k in his account.

But sure, let's say you're right so you can feel good about yourself with absolutely zero proof behind what you're saying.
Za *******
@Steve ******
find them yourself, I’m tired of you people who never had any other visa in their life and believe that after getting a visa they are entitled to enter a country, all the visa requirements are cancelled and the immigration cannot deny them entry because they are the chosen ones for having a DTV visa. This is sick senile thinking. I wish I could be there and see how you are telling the immigration officer that he is not allowed to ask you proof of funds and not allowed to deny you entry because you have no money. And also that they are not allowed to check if you have an ongoing Soft Power course😂
Steve *******
@Za ******
show me those posts.
Za *******
@Steve ******
there are at least 15 people, anonymous and not anonymous who said they were checke and asked to show everything and some got denied. The requirements are not erased after you get the visa only because it is not stated again like for retards.
Steve *******
@Za ******
which posts? By who? There are no posts from real people claiming that they had to show 500k at entry, or anyone who has been denied entry with a DTV that fulfilled the tourism requirements.

Where are these posts you're talking about..?
Za *******
@Steve ******
means you are not reading the posts in this group. I really hope you will be questioned next time when you enter the country and then finally you will keep quiet
Steve *******
@Za ******
no they don't. The embassies and in-country immigration, when applying for an extension, ask you to fulfill the visa requirements.

The immigration at entry ports only ask you to fulfill the tourist requirements:

20,000 thb in cash

Return ticket

Accomodations booked

Assurance that you're not working in Thailand

Not a single person is being asked to prove their visa application requirements at entry. A few remote worker applicants have been asked to prove that they're actually working remotely, and not in Thailand, which is part of the above list.

Stop spreading misinformation.
