Q: I own this Honda CT125. I’m thinking of importing from AU to Thailand as it’s a hard to buy bike and set up for my dog.
Is it worth the hassle and will it cost a bomb in transport and duty to bring it in?? TIA for advice

TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus from the community is that importing a Honda CT125 motorcycle from Australia to Thailand is not worth the hassle and expense. Users highlighted that the same bikes are readily available in Thailand at lower prices, typically ranging from 25,000 to 100,000 THB. Additionally, importing used motorcycles is illegal in Thailand, and transport costs combined with heavy import duties (up to 400%) make it financially unfeasible. There are numerous options for buying new or second-hand bikes directly in Thailand, often customized for transporting pets.
Beside that i am sure they are not supportive and don't make it easy for people to import vehicles from abroad, specially the models they sell there too.
I imported a bike temporary on a 'carne de passage' once.
Registration on your name needs a address confirmation by your embassy which i can get only if i am registred with the embassy living there, or if you got a property on your name which reguires the yellow book which you only can get if you have a minimum 6 month visa either work permit, residence visa (non-immigrant) or retirement visa.
I had one of the visas when i bought my two bikes (and condo) and was still registred at the embassy, but i am no longer and can't register a vehicle on my name anymore. This is recent first hand experience.
Glad you took it to heart. As many said, not even legal anymore. Years ago, you could for much money, but only worth it if you had a big emotional attachment to a bike. Lots of bike available at good prices in Thailand.
Hi Brett, a motorbike here is about 75,000baht to 150,000 baht. I’m in hua hin and for a new drone , I payed 115,000 baht. Check to see how much they will charge you ship. If your bike is in great shape and the price is lower than buying a new one.
No it isn’t worth the hassle. There are heaps of secondhand bike dealers in Thailand. It easy to buy register and insure… and apply for a driving license. It’s worthwhile doing all those things as you will be stopped for sure. That can get expensive!.
You’ll get pet carrier that you can attach on bike in front of you I guess , I had a seen a European guy riding a bike with his dog with a portable carrier attached to Thai licensed plate bike
