Is it problematic to leave and re-enter Thailand with an approved Digital Nomad Visa (DTV)?

Hi everyone,

I entered Thailand on a tourist visa, and after arriving I received approval for the DTV (Digital Nomad Visa).

In a few days, my 60-day tourist visa will expire, and I’m planning to go to Laos to renew it.

Is it problematic to leave and re-enter Thailand with the DTV already approved?

I’d really appreciate any insights or experiences.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user raised a question about leaving Thailand on a tourist visa to renew it in Laos after receiving approval for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV). The community provided insights, stating that one can leave and return to Thailand using the approved DTV without significant issues reported. It was advised to present the DTV upon re-entry to receive a 180-day stamp. Some cautioned about potential complications if not following the prescribed processes, but overall experiences were shared indicating that many had successfully navigated similar situations.

I’ve known a few people who did this within Thailand with agents. They didn’t even enter from the country they were applying from so seams to be ok.

It is not meant to happen but many have done it. Not seen anyone post they have been penalised if they have done it. There was a post that loked like someone had been caught out though during application. Embassy where they applied asked for proof they were in country when they had returned to Thailand

Don't get a new tourist visa. Just leave Thailand and return showing your DTV and get stamped in on that

If you have the approved DTV once you leave thailand and come back in present your approved DTV and you will then get a 180 day stamp. Once approved you have 5 years to use the DTV.
