I am on my ED visa 15 months.

End of this month it gonna expire.

My job is busy make papers for new visa I am not sure or they will be on time before my ED running out.

If its not. Do I have other options instead of leave Thailand to get some more time for the visa they are preparing for me?

Maybe tourist visa or something like that?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about the impending expiration of their ED visa while their new visa is being processed. They seek alternatives to leaving Thailand, such as applying for a tourist visa, but face responses indicating that it's not possible to obtain a tourist visa from within the country. Comments suggest a border run as a potential solution to extend their stay.

Doing border runs on your own to for example Cambodia isn't a one day thing anymore. But doing a border run using an agency is still "in and out" the same day. Before they closed every land border crossing, that is. In and out via air is not the same thing. You'll be back on a 60 days visa exempt in no time. One night in Cambodia or Vietnam isn't that bad and it's cheap.

But why it isn't a 1 day thing anymore? 1.5 years ago I did it 3 times and i did stay there 15 minutes.

About that time everything changed when it comes to doing border runs to Cambodia on your own. I guess it's about money. People had to use agencies if they wanted it to be a one day trip from for example Pattaya.

is it an "official rule"? I mean about howlong you need to stay there for a visa/border run. Or it depends on the immigration agent?

Thailand does not have a rule. Different borders have different rules.

No, you don't have any options. You cannot get a tourist visa inside of Thailand.
