Whit a LTR wealthy pensioner visa it say that income from home country is tax free. But because of dual tax agreement its more benifitial for me to pay tax.

Is the tax free income mandatory withvthe visa or can you choose to file and pay tax.

I have sent email to tax administration but no answer.
Answer summary
The inquiry revolves around whether the LTR wealthy pensioner visa in Thailand mandates tax-free income from the home country or allows the option to choose to pay taxes due to dual tax agreements.

Food in Japan is so next level. The food at 7-11 is superior. Food laws in Japan is so strict. I have considered getting a place in Japan to do spring/fall. Summer not so much…like Taiwan.

I have been to Cambodia many times (twice per year for a month each), and that has never been an issue when entering Thailand.

It won’t be an issue in future either Christian. These posts have certain elements in common.

food price in Japan same as in BKK ? what nonsense are you blabbering ? minimum you need to pay for a meal in Japan is 500 yen and that is close 100 baht and that is bare minimum and what you can get for 500 yen in Japan is totally not comparable to what you can get for 100 baht in Bangkok. not sure why people like you even bother to stay long-term in Thailand if you are so clueless or only hang around in places where you probably don;t even need to speak a word of Thai..

so true, I can't see that food prices comparable, I would say it's double in Tokyo.

Prices were about the same as BKK. A meal cost me around 200-330 baht. Coffee was a bit more expesive than what I pay at Emquartier (70-80). Over there a latte costs around 100-120. Good hotel around 2k baht. Clean air, wide sidewalks, very safe and just beautiful nature were at no extra cost. Plus the 15-20 degres weather is what I was missing.

Anonymous participant Thanks for your post and all the details re. Tokyo hotel prices, plus the temperature. I think my husband would enjoy a break from the heat when we are in BKK on our DTV and it comes time for our visa run. Also nice plus about people w/US passport not needing a visa for a quick tourist visit to Japan.

Anonymous participant since when the average cost per meal in Bangkok is 200 - 300 baht ? nonsense. nobody is stopping you from eating constantly at expensive places but you should cut the crap about Japan costing the same..
Shane *****
Shane *****
Anonymous participant 466 i wasn't talking about street food . There are literally thousand of proper restaurants in Bangkok where you can eat at 150 baht or less. if you are not eating on the cheap, then it cost even more in Japan ..the same.kind of places you eat for 250 to 350 baht in Bangkok would cost you 2000 to 3000 yen. Unless you basically been eating on the cheap in Japan and you dont even know it.m

@Vitaly *******
nonsense. No matter which part of Bangkok you stay in, you can have a meal at less than 100 baht .unless you guys ever are Western Japanese Korean Italian..in that case, not sure why you never bother to move to Thailand

I don’t ever eat cheap street food so my average meal cost 200-350 baht. Not everybody has same life style as yours.

downtown BKK is rather expensive these days, 200-300 baht sounds totally reasonable to me. Early 2000s and Covid days when Bangkok was dirt cheap are definitely over.

Even Numbeo says Bangkok is slightly more expensive than Osaka. Tokyo is above Bangkok but not much.

What do you mean by 'entered on TDAC?

@Mark *****
the online arrival card everyone has to fill out before arrival. There is a place to enter the visa number.

Anonymer Teilnehmer the visa number is NOT a mandatory field in the TDAC online form, you can leave it blank

@Andreas ********
True. You can leave it blank but if you do, you should show a print out or a picture of the DTV immediately along with the passport like James Miller suggests

Anonymous participant the TDAC is thailand digital arrival card.... Not a visa, as far as I know
James ********

Anonymous participant it will be on the PDF of your DTV visa... simply slip this in your passport and hand it to the Thai Immigration officer.

sorry I was not clear enough. There is a place in the TDAC arrival card form where I entered my DTV visa number so I did not have to show it at immigration.

I often visit Japan and China using Thailand as my travel hub. They are inexpensive, the food is amazing and they are culturally quite different from Thailand. Japan is English friendly; China is more challenging. Enjoy.

yes agree with you. China was a bit difficult to navigate the first week but well worth it. I started going to Japan amd China because both countries no longer require a visa for my passport. So much to see in both places. Japan is about the same cost as Thailand but men the quality of everything is just way better.

I stopped at Costco and had a hotdog and a coke for 40 baht. One of those things I was missing from America.

My next visa run will be China again either Chongching or Shangrila. Too much too see there.
