I am retired and hoping to visit Thailand 5 1/2 months total each calendar year on three separate visits. Do I need any specific visa, and if not, should I expect any issues at entry with Immigration officers? Thank
you in advance!!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A retired individual looking to visit Thailand for a total of 5 1/2 months each year on three separate trips inquires about necessary visas and any potential issues with immigration. Suggestions include applying for a Non-O visa or a Multiple Entry Visa. It's noted that those over 50 can apply for a retirement visa for flexibility in travel, and some passport holders may enter Thailand visa-exempt for 60 days.

no such rule, it's a myth. But, if immigration thinks you are milking visa exempt stamps to live here, then prepare to be pulled aside. In the OP case they are a genuine tourist staying a few months at a time, no issues.

If over 50 get yourself a retirement visa and come and go as you like.
