Hi all. Is it confirmed that the visa free period will be cut from 60 to 30 days? When this change will be effective?
Summary so far
There is ongoing confusion regarding the potential reduction of Thailand's visa-free stay from 60 days to 30 days. While some community members mention that an official confirmation is not yet available, it is suggested that any changes would take effect 15 days after being published in the Royal Gazette. Many commenters express skepticism about the timing and actual implementation of such changes, reflecting a general uncertainty about Thailand's immigration policies.

In Thailand they make the announcement before the decision.

I won't happen, who thinks it will be doesn't know Thailand. They can't change it as the airlines and the hotels would get hundred thousand of cancellations as they already down 25 % in reservation for high season. Same like the tourism charge 5vyear discussion, bad publicity and zero effect. If you don't want bad publicity do not employ a Thai for your Public Relations office ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿฅณ

Siggi Tirak they do not care about cancellations

Ridiculous that they made a big show about reducing the number of days but nothing has happened yet. Why not make an announcement shortly before it ACTUALLY takes effect, in other words when it is published in the Royal Gazette? I've never heard of any country supposedly changing its immigration laws but then months later still hasn't changed anything.

Jack Ceccarelli Indeed it is. Looks like it will actually be changed but could still take months to be implemented.

Still 60 days don't know when it will go back down to 30 but if it has by the time you arrive you can extend your stay for a extra 30 days cost 1900 Bhat you can do this twice giving you 90days . If it's still 60 days when you arrive you can extend for another 30 days. Do this at the local or regional immigration office.
Graham ******
Graham ******
Kieron Daniel No you cannot extend it twice
Kieron ********
Kieron ********
Graham Seal you can when it's 30 days and once only when it's 60 . I have done both August last year extended a extra 30 days onto my 60 days! Went in on my 58th day and paid 1900 BHT and got a extra 30 days! And I done it when it was 30 days done it about 4 times extended my 30 days to 60 days and then again for another 30 days 1900 Bhat per extension.you can stay a total of 90days on the visa exemption as long as you go to immigration and pay them the 1900 BHT and there are no problems with the TM30 and immigration can see on their system where you have been staying. You can even extend your Evisa for up to 6 months if you have a invitation letter from family or friends inviting you to stay. Thai immigration law allows you to stay up to 180 days with in a 12 month period. Google it my friend.

Kieron Daniel The only time when you could do multiple extensions from the same initial entry was during COVID. Other than that, it was always limited to one, 30-day extension - as it is now. Google by the way, confirms this.

Iri Pihur if you come and it is 30 days you can extend it for 30 days twice giving you a total of 90 days at 1900 Bhat per 30 day extension . So basically if you come and it's gone down to 30 and you want to stay for 60 ? You can extend it another 30 days for 1900 Bhat at the local or regional immigration office. And after 60 days if you wanted to stay a extra 30 days you can extend that for 1900 Bhat.
David ******

Kieron Daniel No you cannot only one 30 day extension allowed

Kieron Daniel You can only get one 30 day tourism extension per entry

Graham Seal Graham it's Facebook a place to share interests information and to communicate! It's not a competition! I know you don't know me but I would not waste my time posting information that was not relevant to what has happened to me in my life! So no I will not show my stamps! But I am telling you I have had several extensions from 30 days to 60 days to 90 days also last year I got a extension for a extra 30 days on my 60 days! I got this at Udon Thani immigration office.
Liam *********
Liam *********
Kieron Daniel As far as I'm aware, that could only have been during COVID, because that's the only time I know of, when they allowed multiple extensions from the same initial entry. Other than during that period, it's always been limited to one 30 day extension per entry (as it is now).

The sooner the better, and they also need to bring back the pre covid standard of 7 day extensions and no more, digital gonads and the great unwashed are starting to take advantage and they need to return to their respective boxes ;)
Graham ******

Ben Serge extensions were 30 days pre-covid
Ben *******
Ben *******
Graham Seal Are you sure?

I think you need to double check your facts and source ๐Ÿ˜‰

I've lived here for twenty years and extensions on a normal entry stamp were always 7 days pre COVID, covid also made it so you could get an extension every month, thankfully they removed that one as soon as they were able to, unfortunately they dropped the ball by leaving the 30 days in force ๐Ÿ˜‰

Extensions were changed to 30 days to help immigration and stop people getting fines etc, it was always 7 days prior to COVID ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ben Serge I think your memory is playing tricks on you. I've been coming to Thailand for over 40 years and extensions have always been 30 days. The 7 day thing was (and is) if you run out of extensions and ask for another. They refuse it, but give you 7 days to leave the country.

Yuie Srihamat visa exemption was 30, now 60. All extensions dont have any relation to this. +30 were always posibility, not permanent permission.

Also, it still available once a year. And embassy dont have any relation to this anyway.
Ben *******
Ben *******
Yuie Srihamat Rubbish, it was 30 days on arrival and and extension of 7 days, the 7 days was changed to thirty because of all the extra work covid caused immigration, the sooner it reverts to normal, pre covid, the better, Thailand is suffering because of people like you ;)

Leevi Kiviranta Yeah sure. Make an announcement and then cancel it. The dumbest thing ever. Even dumber is giving Cambodians, Laotians, Chinese, Russians, Malaysians etc. 60 days when those countries have never extended their visa free schemes for Thais and knowing full well that these nationalities are using the 60 day pass to work illegally in Thailand.
