TLDR : Answer Summary
There is confusion regarding the minimum age requirement for the NON-Immigrant O visa in Thailand, with some sources indicating it is now 60 years old, while others assert the minimum has traditionally been 50. Commenters mention that specific consulates, such as the one in Belgium, may enforce stricter interpretations of the age requirement, with some having successfully obtained the visa at age 55. It's suggested to check the specific embassy or consulate website for the most accurate information and to contact them directly for clarification.

The Thai lady at the Embassy in Belgium only excepts proof of income of the pension fund, means at least 60 years,could be the reason...

@Bert ******
, IF you decide to stop working at 50, I would say DON'T use a consulate that has a 60 year age limit to get a Non-O visa :O

but that is against the requirement of what thai government wants?

what if i deceide to stop working at 50 year old, have more then enough ( + 850.000 baht on bank account), but no pension funds.

should i go to holland or french consulate then, for my NON IMMIGRANT O visa ?? rediculous.
Tod *********
Ahh, that could be it. (y) thank you for the information

That is totally a consulate decision and most consulates do not have that s a requirement. It's only a few that do.

I do think the Thai embassy in Belgium wants to discourage people under 60 years of age to apply for a "retirement" visa. A few years ago, I was initially refused when I applied at 55. Reason: "Too young, we suspect you will be working in Thailand." Eventually I got my visa with my second application, after some lobbying, and convincing them my working days were over.

This is, if I am not mistaken, the website of the consulate in Antwerp. Better check the website of the embassy in Brussels.

There are more mistakes on the websites in Belgium. We can say the information is not correctly given, or wrong translated into all the different languages you speak in Belgium, or just typing errors.

It's 50, but Belgium always has to do different. Or their website designer went mia. ๐Ÿ˜… Just send them an email to clarify things.

I can, but others already commented. I'm Dutch so no problem to read for me, but I have to react on this page in English.
