TLDR : Answer Summary
Recent updates from the Thai consulate in Savannakhet indicate that bank statements are now required for all tourist visa applications. This requirement is not new but has been reinforced, highlighting the necessity of showing a minimum of 20,000 baht in a bank account or its equivalent, alongside proof of onward travel. Travelers should be aware that the regulations might differ significantly from those at other consulates, such as in Vientiane.
okay boyz and squirrelz These requirements are NOT new and have been posted on the window at the thai consulate in Savannakhet for a good while.
STOP with the negative comments.. It is what it is, you deal with it or you go to another consulate. bitching pissing and moaning about it will not change the facts
they have been asking for proof of 20K baht or the equivalent in a bank account for a long LONG time now. It was hit-or-miss and not everyone was asked BUT they tightened up and now you show the bank statement and proof of onward travel too.
Thanx for the update, it helps to let people know that the thai consulate in Savannakhet ain't the same as the one in Vientiane..
