Does the financial requirements for the DTV have to consistently remain in your account, or does it just have to be there when they verify?
Basically, can the $ be there during application and approval, then you pull it (for whatever reason), then put it back (to prove you still have it)?
Hope that makes sense.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The financial requirements for the DTV visa do not need to remain in your account after visa approval. Once your visa is approved, you can withdraw the required funds. However, for any future extensions of the DTV visa, you must have the required amount (500k THB) in your account 30 days prior to the extension application.
Once approved you can withdraw the money and use it. There are no restriction for example like the 800k for O retirement. The only time, as it stands now, you would have to show 500k again for DTV is if you want to extend in country. You need to have the 500k there 30 days before extension.
Thank you for this. I've seen people say, just do a boarder run (instead of extension)...so if I do a boarder run at my 180 days, I'd have to have proof of the funds for re-entry?
Anonymous participant Yes, an extension in made at an immigration office within Thailand. You basically have to show all qualifying documents again plus residence and immigration docs such as TM30 and 90 Day report. With an air or land border bounce you are getting a re-entry stamp and not an extension
Anonymous participant extension for another 180 days in thailand actually seems stricter than get the dtv itself according to everyones accounts. it doesnt sound worth it frankly.
Anonymous participant an extension will be pretty much exactly the same as the original application plus all updated documents and the money in the bank at least 30 days before you apply for the extension. This topic has been discussed at least a few hundred times please search and scroll
