Is it better to visit the Chiang Mai Immigration Centre in the morning or afternoon for a 30-day extension?

Hi, hope you’re well! I’m in Chiang Mai and would need to go to the Immigration Centre soon to apply for 30 day extension. I’m thinking of going Central Festival Mall to complete this.

A lot of people I speak to seem to go in the morning. I was wondering if anyone has gone in the afternoon and if it’s more quiet?

Thanks!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The best time to visit the Immigration Centre in Chiang Mai for a 30-day extension seems to be in the morning. Several commenters indicate that while wait times can vary significantly, an early arrival generally results in shorter waits compared to the afternoon.

I’ve gone at 0800 and they open at 0900 two times with different wait time. First time I wait about 1.5hrs and second time about 6hr that’s including them closing for lunch at 1200-1300. Both times was to get an 30 days extension. It’s really a hit or miss on how long you wait but going early would be better than afternoon.
