I did 3 tourists visa in a row (ho chi min and vientiane twice) + 2 border run this year (both in mae sai) and 30 days extension on all of them. I just did an extension on my last mae sai run. Am I good to make another tourist visa in Hong kong or Kuala lumpur (arriving at chiang mai airport)? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster has completed multiple tourist visas and extensions, and is inquiring if they can secure another tourist visa from Hong Kong or Kuala Lumpur. The comments suggest skepticism about the viability of repeated tourist visas due to increased scrutiny from immigration, mentioning that frequent visa runs may lead to complications. Some commenters recommend seeking alternative visa types such as an Education (ED) visa or work visa instead.

immigration is lenient for sometime, especially after big joke is gone, i expect things to be more lenient as most retirees i know are leaving Thailand to Cambodia or Philipinnes bc you can get very easy visa and no proof of income, 800 k in bank etc etc. i am sure Thailand does not want to lose all those tourists and retirees.

They don't give a rat’s bottom about farangs even if they are married to Thais and have cutesy and narak “look-krung” kids.

Ya think? Na.They know exactly what they’re doing. They want “kee-neeow” Chinese tourists living on Mama noodles and sharing ten to a 30-sq.mtr condo.

And your profile has you living in Chiang Mai just saying immigration are not stupid. I know one officer in Krabi and he told us about a pretty intern but he also let slip what she did and that was searching facebook

a few years ago they wanted everyone to submit there facebook and social media pages. I think they are just building up data base and just searching someone post picture of school kids with farang on snap chat hey presto go bust the place. I dont think its the second one i think they are just searching. They can key in chiang mai people who live there and check through data base see who has visas

If they are employing staff to search facebook it means 2 things.

1. Theyre looking for suspects.

2. They have little faith in their border control staff anymore to get it right the first time.

Garrett Greenwald . Yep. This post is a red flag for an IO too if they put two and two together.. How many "tourists" bounce in and out the same country multiple times a year ? Hmmm... 🤔

Garrett Greenwald. Remember that conversation we had about locals being members of expat groups? 🤔

Only way to find out is try. The more TVs/exempts you use in a year, the more you look like a non tourist. They will pick up on it eventually and start questioning you about it.
