Greetings from USA… Doing a SEA trip hopefully by end of March and having some visa questions… Plan is to do the PI for 28 days then to Thailand on the 30 day visa and get 30 day extension. Then want to head into Laos / Cambodia for several weeks or a month then back into Thailand for another 30 + 30… Is this allowed? Because I am trying to remain fluid with my schedule not really wanting to do the tourist visa. Legitimate educated advice please…

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is planning a trip to Southeast Asia, aiming to utilize the 30-day visa exempt entry into Thailand followed by a 30-day extension, while traveling to other countries like Laos and Cambodia. Community responses confirm that this plan is generally acceptable, advising that as long as one is mindful of the limit on two land border crossings for visa exemptions per calendar year, they should be fine with this itinerary.

You should be fine. Thailand and Vietnam have evisas and I believe Lao PDR does too. The Nong Khai Thailand crossing is easy. Huay Xai exiting Lao in the northwest crosses to Chiang Khong Thailand, and gets you to/from Chiang Mai nicely. In the past I've done this same itinerary.

You are following a pattern of a tourist by not just crossing the border and returning immediately. You will be fine. Just remember, you only get two land border crossings for the 30 day visa exempt entry a year.

I have a TM60 (6 month multiple entry) and have done turn arounds with no problem, carrying no luggage. Thailand doesn't generally turn away financially sound individuals.

Have you been to Thailand recently and have a history of using Visa Exempt entries (30 days) and 30 day extensions? If not you should be fine as you are allowed 2 Visa Exempt entries by land border per calendar year.
