I arrived last year in November with a thirty day exempt then got an extension. Did a border hop in January at Mae Sai and got another 30 days. Got an extension in Ranong last month with no problems. I am planning to do another border hop for another 30 day exempt in Ranong this time. I just want to be sure that it will be okay and confirm that I am allowed two border hops per CALENDAR year. I do realize it is up to the discretion of the official, but wonder if anyone has had issues with doing three in a row like this. Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has successfully completed a series of border hops and extensions since arriving in Thailand and is planning another border hop. They seek confirmation on the allowance of two border hops per calendar year. Responses from the community indicate that typically two land border hops per year are permissible, with no reported problems from those who have undertaken multiple hops. It's also noted that there are generally no limits on air entry for visa exemptions.
, Yes in theory there is no limit to the number of visa exempt entries you can get when entering the country by air BUT believe me you're not gonna be able to live here flying in on back-2-back visa exempt entries without getting raked over the coals by the officers at passport control at some point.
And while you can apply for a 30 day extension to a 30 day visa exempt entry IF it is denied you get an extension denied 7 days to get out of thailand stamp for the same 1900baht and you can't appeal that decision :(
