I'm from Italy and I have always had the METV visa (multi-entry 6 months visa)

And now I was wondering if it still made sense to do it, since now if you leave Thailand and come back they give to you 60 days. METV for 180 days It costs 180 euros..

In your opinion it is always worth doing this type of visa or advise me to make a new visa, such as the educational visa?

Thank you 🤗

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around whether an Italian expat should continue applying for the METV (Multi-Entry Tourist Visa) or switch to other visa options, such as an educational visa or the DTV (Digital Nomad Visa). Participants mention that if the traveler spends less than 6 months in Thailand, the visa exemption could suffice. For longer stays, acquiring a dedicated visa like the DTV may be more beneficial. Overall, it's suggested that the METV may not justify its cost given the effectiveness of the other options.

You could get 180 days visa exemption with one border bounce and two extentions of stay now

Either use the DTV or exemption. The METV gets you a bit of extra time nearly guaranteed that you can or cannot also get with exemption, roll of the dice, but turning those odds to your favor doesn't justify the cost with also the DTV as an alternative. If you spend that kind of money, it should be on the DTV.

dtv have Almost the same cost as METV, but you also have to pay for a course of study for example

It really depends on how long your trip is for. Anything under 6 months the exemption should be fine. Above 6 months they may start asking questions. At least less hassle with a dedicated paid visa. And indeed if you come regularly and qualify, go for DTV.

If you can qualify for the DTV, definitely get that. Otherwise it depends on your travel patterns as to if you should get a METV or not. If you're trying to get more than 6 months in Thailand, I'd still recommend getting it as entering visa exempt after spending a long time in Thailand can be risky.
