Is my yellow housebook a proper substitute for a certificate of residence for opening an account with K bank or do I need to get the CofR from immigration beforehand?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The yellow housebook may be an acceptable substitute for a certificate of residence (CoR) when opening an account at K Bank, as indicated by several commenters. Most banks have increasingly accepted the yellow book, but acceptance can vary by specific bank branches and types of businesses. Some individuals have successfully opened accounts using only their yellow book and ID card, with no issues encountered.

The yellow book in recent times has generally getting more accepted, but there will will be difference in offices and types of business. So for example two banks from the same company one might accepted the other the certificate of residence.

yes I took care of that about 8 months ago with Bangkok bank but I came back to USA shortly after getting my extension and didn’t have time to provide new visa with them so…frozen but seems the prudent thing to do in Thailand is to have multiple accounts just in case

your bank account has to have the same ID number as your Sim card.

Should be acceptable, and preferable, to most banks.
