Hello! My husband decided to attend a university in Thailand and I would be joining him on a non-o dependent visa. He will be using his GI bill (basically like a scholarship) and will be getting a monthly stipend as well. I’m seeing some conflicting information online based off how much money he should have in his account for the 1 year extension. Does a monthly stipend of about 80k THB deposited into a Thai bank account enough for proof of finances? Can I show my savings (of about 600k THB, but in a US bank account) as additional proof? Does he need the full savings(?) in a Thai account? We just want to prepare before we go there so we know what to expect. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Answer summary
The question focuses on the financial requirements for a non-O dependent visa in Thailand, particularly concerning the sufficiency of a monthly stipend of 80,000 THB for proof of finances. The asker inquires if they can combine this with their savings in a US bank account, as there seems to be conflicting information online. Several comments clarify that for an education visa (ED visa) associated with the husband's scholarship, there is generally no need to show evidence of financial means. Other suggestions include considering alternate visa types like a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV), particularly for the spouse.

ED (education, not erectile dysfunction), doesn't require "income" proofs)

These figures are for a retirement visa? Would it not be much simpler to process an education visa for your spouse, and a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa for yourself? (BTW, Thank you for your service. )

OP
Joseph Riyadh Sulieman-AlHabib the whole reason for wanting to apply as a dependent is so that I don’t have to leave often 😅 we have 3 cats, so we were going to move them with us. From what I understand METV has a 6 months limit?
