My husband has a work permit and we have dependent visas to be able to stay here. We would like to bring over (USA) my biological child from another marriage (his step son). My son is 14 turing 15 in August. The school my husbands work at does not know what documents we need. We will go to immigration to ask before we fly to the US for vacation. But what documents do we need to be able to attach him to my husbands work permit and visa (since he is not his biological son)?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking information on the necessary documents to attach her 14-year-old biological child from a previous marriage to her husband's work permit and visa in Thailand. Suggestions include exploring an education visa since the child will study in Thailand and contacting the Thai Embassy for guidance, especially if the marriage is registered. However, there is a caveat that the child's attachment to the father's visa may require formal adoption.

I don't think that is possible unless your husband has formally adopted your son.

Donna Olivares, I tend to agree. USA Authorities might not allow it either, as the boy is not biologically related to either person in Thailand. I was previously married to a Filipino woman and before the Philippines government would allow her daughters to move to Australia to live, even though they would be with their mother, my now ex-wife had to get written permission from the children's biological father for them to emigrate. I think that a little bit of 'gentle persuasion' was applied before he would agree.

I am getting that document I have written the words for his dad to sign and have notarized... I know how to get him here just not how to allow him to stay... At least not longer then his tourist visa would be.

given you've ruled out an ED visa you are going to struggle unless your husband officially adopts him. Until such time he is not officially a member of your husband's immediate family so can't rely on his visa. Either get your husband to officially adopt him or get your own visa independent of your husband's and have him as a dependent on that. The latter is not going to be easy as you would need to get a job and your own Non-B visa.

If you have registered marriage with your husband (current), then I think there would be no problem to get dependent visa for your son from earlier realtionship. Better to contact Thai Embassy at your home country for further details.

Well, one suggestion I have is to get him on an education visa, since he will be studying here. That's probably the easiest method.
