I applied for my DTV visa on March 10 and submitted additional documents on March 11.
Now I’ve been scheduled for an interview on March 30.
Is this normal? What should I do? Why did it take so long

TLDR : Answer Summary
The applicant's experience of having a DTV visa interview scheduled 20 days after submitting the application is deemed normal by several commenters. Many shared similar timelines and emphasized the importance of being prepared, such as having necessary documents ready and ensuring that one meets the financial requirements. The conversation highlights the variance in processing times based on location and individual circumstances, particularly at different Thai consulates. Many contributors encouraged the applicant to stay calm for the interview and provided tips on showing readiness.
I plan on applying in Laos as well. I understand that you need to apply in person, correct? So it sounds like the amount of time you have to spend in Laos is quite variable. I’m currently in Thailand. Are there any other Thai embassies or consulates in SE that might be quicker?
Well, I applied in Vientiane too, when I paid the visa fees, i got the interview date a week later, asked me about my job and check the bank account of equivalent to 500,000 THB and my paycheck of 3 month in the bank. My interview time was 11AM and 12:15 i got the DTV visa. Chill bro, as long as you have prepared what they described on the embassy website, you are fine.
It’s normal for getting an interview for DTV, I applied for DTV in Laos and I got an interview as well. They just ask briefly about your remote job (I applied DTV with my remote job) and see if my bank account have the amount equal to 500,00 bhat. And that’s it. The following evening I got an email for DTV approved.
Send an e-mail back, I do not wish to comply with these norms, issue the visa now.
You might get an e-mail with application denied.
Follow up, dress nicely, bring passport and all relevant documents, and answer the questions to your best knowledge, it might happen that you get the visa.
oooh I don't know about Laos :( -- I did mine in Taipei, had an interview, and it's totally standard there -- so maybe the case with Laos? What does reddit and other pages/answers say?
means they're doubting you and they are gonna interrogate you to see how you react and what you say while looking for any reason to reject your application
