Hi all! This old wood pavilion is in need of extensive repair. Water and infestation has caused the damage. Got a quote today for complete repair of 25000b. Any ideas is this a fair price? I see you can buy new for around 30000b. In chanthaburi East Thailand anyone know how to find joiners?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeks opinions on whether a repair quote of 25,000 baht for an old wood pavilion in Chanthaburi is reasonable, given that new ones cost around 30,000 baht. Several commenters suggest that the quote seems high, with opinions varying from recommending a maximum payment of 10,000 baht to suggesting hiring a carpenter on a daily wage and sourcing materials personally to lower costs. There's a discussion about assessing the necessary repairs and the local market for carpentry work.

Hire a carpenter on daily wage basis and provide him all the material required to repair, buy yourself everything from market, there are lots of stores and shops in pattaya, it will cost you not more than 15-

Seems a bit pricey, but it depends on what needs replacing, wood is real expensive now, and these hard times are seeing virtual double pricing stupidly. But if someone does a really good job, proper standard then it could be 10-15k... put an ice bucket on the table filled with beer and the price might go down a bit...best of luck

Excuse me if this seems blunt but surely its easy to figure out what costing should be? You just google the parts and how much they cost then find out typical labour charge... not rocket science is it? Even roy cropper does it on coronation street lmao

If it's structurally sound I wouldn't change anything. The bench you could just change the boards out.
