Hi all, today I went to Chiang Mai immigration for my 60 day extension based on marriage visa but I was rejected! I didn't know the marriage certificate needed to be in Thai, it also needed to be stamped by the British embassy in Bangkok. However, I I just called my embassy in Bangkok and they cannot stamp the marriage certificate because of legislation. Can anyone give me advice?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user faced rejection for a 60-day extension based on a marriage visa in Chiang Mai due to issues with their marriage certificate, which must be in Thai and stamped by the British embassy in Bangkok. The embassy informed them that they cannot stamp the certificate due to legislation. Community responses provided insights on the process of legalizing documents and alternatives for extending the visa, noting that the Thai embassy and consulates may have limitations and the importance of having documents prepared correctly.
and I think on that note we're done. you CAN'T legalize a UK marriage certificate here in thailand anymore you haven't been able to do it for over a year now I believe.
I think you're NOT gonna get the 60 day visit family extension and instead might have to get the letter from your consulate that states you're unable to travel due to covid-19 and get that 30 day emergency extension instead.
Giving us an extra 30 days. My 15 months marriage visa ends tomorrow but they refused my 60 day extension today, at least in another 30 days I might be able to go to Laos
You can only do that by either physically being in the UK, or sending things to someone who is. Part of the procedure involves paying the Thai embassy with either cash, or a postal order. That's in normal circumstances. I'm not even sure if they are open at the moment. Plus it takes time.
You could try registering your marriage in Thailand (at the Amphur office). You will still need a translation and a MFA stamp (I'm not sure exactly how you would do that at the moment) but if you COULD get that done you could then register the foreign marriage at your local Amphur and get the คร. 2 to take to immigration.
Just saying - we have done this process as described, and the offices concerned send the Certificate on to each other at the appropriate stage. It took about six weeks altogether. May be a little delayed in current circumstances, and we didn't need it translated (two years ago).
